Our meet the team series continues with the introduction of ship agent Emelie Johansson. We asked Emelie a couple of questions about her job and what does she do on her spare time.

Tell shortly of your background?
After studying a Bachelor of Science in Nautical Science at Kalmar Maritime Academy, I got a job working as a Port agent in Norrköping. After 1,5 years I started working for AtoB@C Shipping/NSG and have now been working here since 2017.

Describe your daily work at NSG?
My daily work includes many different tasks such as keeping in touch with vessels, port authorities, other authorities, shipping companies and cargo owners. It is important to keep everyone involved well informed about everything that happens during the vessel's port call. Working as an agent also includes assisting the Captain with everything that may be needed - often at very short notice which requires a lot of problem solving.

What do you like the most in your work?
I enjoy working in an industry with a high pace where the daily work quickly needs to be re-prioritized as unexpected situations often occur. I also like the variety of administrative and practical tasks that comes with every new vessel that is being handled.

What do you do in your spare time?
My husband and I are renovating our house from 1926 which takes a lot of time and planning. When I have spare time from that I like spending time with friends and family, visiting flea markets or second hand shops, taking care of my plants and eating good food.
